Why Working With Me is an Awesome Investment in Yourself

Running truly is one of life’s easiest and most reliable uppers. Your drug of choice if you will.

Running well can provide years if not a lifetime of enjoyment, freedom, self belief, confidence, empowerment, gratification and friendship. If done properly

Time alone, time with friends, time working on a goal. Its all good time, well spent and well invested in yourself.

If you are a women approaching, in or coming out the other side of menopause, running can provide many benefits to your journey and enjoyment of life for future you.

Bone Health

Menopause accelerates bone loss or decreases bone density due to declining estrogen.

Running is weight-bearing, which stimulates bone growth and can help prevent osteoporosis.

Hormone Regulation

Running balances cortisol and insulin, two hormones that can easily feel out of whack during menopause.

Running boosts natural endorphins and dopamine, helping with mood swings and anxiety.

Joint and Muscle Strength

Contrary to the myth that running "ruins" joints, proper running (paired with strength training) improves joint stability and muscle strength, critical for aging well.

Confidence and Empowerment

Running challenges physical and mental limits, which can massively boost self-esteem.

Many women find running during menopause deeply empowering — proof that you are still strong, capable, and evolving.

Improve Sleep

If you struggle with sleep disturbances as many menopausal women do, regular running can improve sleep quality and duration by helping regulate circadian rhythms.

It helps you feel tired and more ready to sleep at the end of the day.

Heart Health

Menopause increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, which is the biggest killer of menopausal women in Australia.

Running strengthens the heart, improves circulation, lowers blood pressure, and improves cholesterol levels, hence significantly reducing your risk.

Important Note:

Because menopause brings changes in hormone response, muscle adaptation, recovery and injury risk, I recommend combining your runs with strength training, proper nutrition, and plenty of recovery (including mobility and stretching).

My programs offer a holistic approach that will set you up for a great future of strength, vitality and total enjoyment.

Why you should trust me with your running.

Helping women run better is one of my superpowers.

I've been changing women's lives for 18 but fell in love with running and really doubled down on it in 2012. Completed the injury free run course, did the trainings, and enlisted the expertise of the best run coaches of the time to share the best of their knowledge with me. After applying this knowledge and skills to my own run career I now love nothing more than helping other women run. Seriously it just lights me up.

Most of us falsely believe that we can either run or we can’t. And it's just not true. Think about how you ran as a kid. How it made you feel. Before the years of sitting, driving, bad posture, and sedentary lifestyle.

“I'm not a runner”

“I can't run”

“I hate running”

Sadly I've heard these statements from women A LOT. I just smile, promise them I can change that and take on that challenge with glee.

You see, we just need to relearn how to move our body into a comfortable, efficient run again. And good news is - you absolutely can.

It’s just learning how to trust our body again, one step at a time with some good coaching.

Watching your progress, your confidence grow, your big grin when you run stronger or faster or longer than last time. When you set a new goal and share your achievements.

What a buzz - for you and me!

Teach Me How to Run

Hear what my clients have to say...

"I joined run club with Joan on a whim with limited expectations or confidence for running, having never run before. Her consistent and steady training has given me the strength and support to keep going and slowly learn how to breathe, pace myself and get stronger. It’s helped with my general fitness and feeling like I can achieve what I once thought was impossible. Highly recommend Joan for runners at every level. Beyond the running Joan’s real nature builds a group of supportive and fun women to run with making the experience even more enjoyable to be part of."

I can’t quite believe the distance I can now make and the improvements I have made in fitness. Joan is a very supportive coach who caters to where each individual is in their running journey. Thank you Joan!"
